Narrow, single-channel PTCB circuit breakers are now available with approval for Hazardous Locations Class I, Div. 2 Groups A, B, C, D, Temperature Class T4. That means PTCBs can also be used in Ex areas (Division 2) with briefly occurring gases and vapors. The products are tested in accordance with the UL 121201 standard and have the cULus-listed logo. Extending the range of applications has made them extremely versatile.
Siemens Smart Infrastructure has launched the new Sentron 3NA COM LV HRC fuse link with integrated communication and measurement functionality. The compact device is designed for low-voltage grids up to 400 volts and can be used in secondary substations and industrial plants. The LV HRC fuse link protects grids and plants against short circuits and overloads and is capable of measuring current.
Siemens circuit protection devices are engineered to allow for easy deployment, quick installation and secure protection of industrial devices from excessive current flow. Siemens low voltage circuit protection devices such as, miniature circuit breakers, supplementary protectors and fuse holders, range in performance and style to meet wide-ranging needs.
The FPBB RAIL filter from SCHURTER is an extraordinarily slim double-stage, single-phase filter, measuring only 25 mm in width. The attractive space-saving design integrates an optional fuseholder or circuit breaker. Additionally, an overvoltage varistor is available in all three variations. FPBB RAIL: three functions in one ultra-slim housing. Space can be a scarce commodity on a panel, particularly panel designs in control cabinets for industrial machinery.
The IMO range of UL 1077 Approved Miniature Circuit Breakers have been designed for protection of electrical installations against overload and short circuits and are manufactured in accordance with UL 1077.
In early August of 2020, power management company Eaton announced the first panelboards and switchboards in the industry to feature real-time breaker health monitoring with the launch of the Pow-R-Line Xpert family of intelligent panelboards and switchboards. Seamlessly integrating Eaton’s Power Defense molded case circuit breaker technology, the combined solutions deliver accurate, actionable data to help professionals.
AutomationDirect has added new accessories for Eaton 3P series molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs). The new products include universal rotary handles and Flex ShaftT flexible handles, both available for each MCCB frame size and suitable for NEMA 1/4/4X and 12 enclosures. Also added are high performance Flex Shaft two-position flange handles that feature external front mounting and are available for NEMA 1/3R/4/4X and 12 enclosures and for G-, F-, K- and L-frame MCCB models.
With the motor starters of the MOTUS C14 series from Wöhner, short circuits become less scary. If an error occurs, the electronics switch off the motor within a maximum of 10 microseconds. This means that the MOTUS C14 reacts faster than any fuse and this with a low I2t value. By comparison, the reaction time of a conventional fuse-link is about 2,000 microseconds. With a circuit breaker, the switch-off time in case of a fault is even 5,000 microseconds.
Phoenix Contact’s protective devices in the TERMITRAB complete product family provide a high level of protection against overvoltages in a minimum amount of space. With the TTC-6-1×2-TELE devices, two new product variants are now available for fast VDSL applications with data transmission speeds up to 300 Mbps. The products are specifically tailored to the requirements for data transmission with Super Vectoring.
SCHURTER’s prominent UMT-H surface mount ceramic fuse family now includes 40 A and 50 A current ratings with an impressive breaking capacity rating of 500 A at 125 VAC / 72 VDC. The series provides unprecedented overcurrent and short circuit protection performance in a package size of 5.3 x 16 mm. The UMT-H was originally developed to provide a smaller alternative to through-hole mounted 5 x 20 mm cartridge fuses, commonly used for primary circuit protection.
Littelfuse, Inc. has recently announced the release of the new LST Varistor series. Constructed with a proprietary thermally protected varistor technology (TMOV) developed by Littelfuse, this new varistor incorporates both a built-in thermal disconnect function and electric arc shield. This combination provides additional robust protection to prevent catastrophic failure and fire hazard even under the extreme circumstances of abnormal overvoltage conditions or varistor end-of-life.
The PTCB circuit breakers from Phoenix Contact are now approved for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. The entire family is Listed to UL 508 and Recognized to UL 2367. With the new approvals, the narrow circuit breakers meet the stringent requirements for installation in potentially explosive areas in North America. The PTCB family is ideal for 24 V DC applications that require high density and effective protected power distribution to multiple common loads.
Bourns, Inc. recently announced the addition of a new model series to its leading Multifuse Polymer Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuse product line. The new Bourns Multifuse MF-MSHT models are high temperature rated, automotive grade AEC-Q200 compliant and available in a standard 1812 surface mount package. In addition, the MF-MSHT model series features a low thermal derating factor, a maximum voltage range of 9 V – 42 V, and a hold current range of 200 mA – 1.75 A.
SCHURTER announces its new TA36 thermal circuit breaker, improving on an already successful series TA35. The new series boasts a modern sculpted rocker switch and bezel, while sporting a host of contemporary colors to choose from. Equipment designers have become increasingly aware of the need to create products that are not only superior in functionality, but also present compelling aesthetics.
Bussmann series surge protective solutions help provide power that’s free from damaging surges. Type 1 UL 1449 4th Edition Listed SPDs are easily selected and installed on the loadside or lineside of the service entrance overcurrent protective device. Voltage specific models precisely match and protect electrical systems and equipment better than a “one-size-fits-all” SPD.
