HELUKABEL recently announced that select PROFINET and PROFIBUS cable products have earned a Power-Limited Tray Cable – Exposed Run (PLTC-ER) certification to stay ahead of the curve as industry trends change. The product specific cable types being upgraded are: PROFINET Type A, PROFINET Type B, and PROFIBUS DP.The original PLTC certification allowed the products to extend outside of the cable tray 6 ft (1.8 m).

Ground Fault Nuisance Tripping in VFD Applications
Ground faults are characterized by the accidental connection of a live circuit to a grounded conductor. If the ground connection is solid enough there is a potential for extremely high currents flowing through the live circuits to ground. The current may be high enough to trip any upstream breakers or blow fuses. Tripping breakers or blowing fuses should render the machinery where the ground connection was made safe to personnel.

Siemens: SIMOVAC Non-Arc-Resistant and SIMOVAC-AR Arc-Resistant Motor Controllers
The Siemens SIMOVAC medium-voltage non-arc-resistant and SIMOVAC-AR arc-resistant controllers have a modular design incorporating up to two 12SVC400 (400 A) controllers, housed in a freestanding sheet steel enclosure. Each controller is UL 347 class E2, equipped with three current-limiting fuses, a non-load-break isolating switch, and a fixed-mounted vacuum contactor (plug-in type optional for 12SVC400). The enclosure is designed for front access, allowing the equipment to be located with the rear of the equipment close to a non-combustible wall.
