Metric Vs. AWG Size Conductors
Each component in an industrial control panel must be properly applied for safe and reliable operation. The application requirements for each component are often quite complex and unique to the component, resulting in erroneous interpretation, leading to improper use of the component. We will review some of the most common misapplications of components within the panel. UL 508 switches Listed as a “manual motor controller” are designed to be used for the on/off or manual motor controller function to meet NEC requirements in Article 430, Part VII.
One of the largest electric cooperatives nationally, Berryville Arkansas-based Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation, faced an ongoing challenge of efficiently managing their large and geographically dispersed network of substations. Without an ability to remotely monitor substation performance or receive notifications from remote equipment, their personnel had to travel to substations for various issues, which delayed response times and issue resolution.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented system integrators with a unique opportunity to evaluate manufacturer performance during a global disruption. Throughout this period, there have been numerous instances where end users have successfully utilized their diversified supply chains to enhance production by integrating more device-level components into their existing factory setups. This strategy has enabled teams to maximize output using their current resources.
The term “safety lifecycle” refers to a formalized engineering process that helps create a safety system that can work effectively throughout its lifespan. For example, industrial and manufacturing facilities use safety lifecycles to keep their functional systems operating smoothly. The safety lifecycle is described in international standards set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
eLearning is a form of self-study that has been well received and is becoming increasingly widespread. Eplan, the solutions provider, has made significant investments in this field since 2020 due to its customer-oriented focus and provides numerous eLearning courses at www.eplan.com, including courses for the new EPLAN Platform 2024. Eplan’s Head of Professional Education Dr Dusko Lukac explains: “Our goal is that our users work as efficiently as possible with Eplan. With the update trainings in the eLearning format, we present them the software’s new features. Our experience shows that when users make full use of the software, they also have the greatest success in project planning and engineering.”
The enormous global appetite for connectivity is creating the need for more data, storage and data centers – and, in turn, the need for more electricity and stronger reserves to protect critical operations for businesses, organizations and service providers. Intelligent power management company Eaton is using its Data Centers as a Grid approach to reimagine the role of the data center as an active participant in the energy transition, putting critical infrastructure to work in new ways to generate new revenue streams, enhance resiliency and reduce carbon emissions.
