AMT’s Emerging Technology Center at IMTS 2024 Highlights Hybrid Solutions, Automation, Workforce Engagement, and Model-Based Engineering

When manufacturing leaders, job shop owners, engineers, and designers want to see what their operations might look like in the near future, one of their must-visit destinations is AMT’s EmergingTechnology Center (ETC) at IMTS – The International Manufacturing Technology Show. IMTS 2024 runs Sept. 9-14 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. “The ETC showcases technology in the context of addressing today’s most pressing manufacturing issues, including automation, process integration, reshoring, a surge of aerospace and defense investment, and raising productivity per worker,” says Bonnie Gurney, vice president of strategic content and partnerships at AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, which owns and produces IMTS.

Andreas Sobotta to Assume Role of Vice President North and South America for Pilz Automation

Pilz Automation Safety Canada L.P. announced in March of this year that their long-term CEO and GM, Andreas Sobotta, will assume the role of Vice President North and South America, effective immediately. He will still work from the Canadian office in Mississauga and visit all other subsidiaries in North and South America. Pilz will take their time to find a successor for the leading position in Canada. The plan is to have a proper candidate by Q4/24 or the beginning of 2025.

Eaton Names Paulo Ruiz President and COO Effective September 2, 2024; Ruiz to Succeed Craig Arnold as CEO on June 1, 2025

The Board of Directors of intelligent power management company Eaton has recently named Paulo Ruiz president and chief operating officer of Eaton and a member of the board of directors, effective September 2, 2024. Ruiz will be appointed chief executive officer of Eaton on June 1, 2025. He succeeds Craig Arnold, who will retire on May 31, 2025, having reached Eaton’s mandatory officer retirement age of 65. Mr. Arnold has been Eaton’s chairman and chief executive officer since June 2016. Additionally, effective June 1, 2025, Gregory R. Page will become the non-executive chair of the Eaton Board of Directors.

nVent Announces Agreement to Sell Thermal Management Business

nVent Electric plc has recently announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Thermal Management business (“Thermal Management”), which includes the RAYCHEM and TRACER brands, to funds managed by Brookfield Asset Management for a cash purchase price of $1.7 billion, subject to customary closing adjustments. With 2023 sales of $595 million and approximately 1,700 employees around the world, Thermal Management is a provider of mission critical electrical thermal solutions.
