Bel Launches New 65W GaN-Based AC-DC Power Supplies with Ultra-Compact Footprint
Bel Fuse Inc. has introduced two new 65 W open-frame AC-DC power supply series to the Bel Power Solutions portfolio. The MDP65, for medical applications, and HDP65, for industrial and ITE, both use Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology to improve performance and enable more compact designs.
The new series delivers leading power density and efficiencies in a space-saving form factor at 1×3 inches. The compact footprint offers a 50% real estate savings compared to devices 2×3 inches, allowing for greater capacity per unit in lower-powered applications. The series offers two mechanical mount options, including PCB mount or open frame.
Engineered for the medical market, the new MDP65 series is cost-effective while prioritizing critical safety. Compliant with the rigorous IEC/EN 60601-1 safety standard, it features 2xMOPP isolation and is suitable for Type BF medical applications. Its wide operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C ensures reliable performance, even when incorporated into compact, tightly sealed diagnostic or portable monitoring units where heat dissipation is a challenge.
The entire series, designed and manufactured by the Bel Mumbai team, offers a favorable Cost of Ownership (COO) over time compared to similar components. The new HDP65 and MDP65 series are also safety agency certified, meeting the latest regulatory requirements with UL and Nemko approvals.
