The International Society of Automation (ISA) has recently announced the publication of a new position paper, “Automation is Critical to Achieving Global Energy Goals.” In this paper, ISA explains the multitude of ways that automation can support energy supply and efficiency. Safe and efficient execution of energy production, storage, and transmission requires the use of proven automation technologies implemented by knowledgeable and skilled automation professionals.
Emerson, a provider in digital transformation solutions, recently announced it has successfully migrated the exploration data of Repsol, a global energy company, to the cloud. Cloud capabilities enable companies to securely store the data that powers vital analytics, helping optimize operations and achieve higher levels of performance. Migration to the cloud proved to be a cost-effective alternative for Repsol.
What will the factory of the future look like? This is the question that many professionals in the automation and manufacturing industries are seeking to answer. While most proposed descriptions are lofty yet lacking in concrete details, there are also many attempts to extrapolate from cutting-edge technologies that already exist. What needs to be done is to connect the grandiose vision with the minutiae, and its sweeping (and yet unrealized) capabilities with today’s real-world applications that sit right on the boundary between practical and experimental.
Rockwell Automation, Inc. recently announced that it has acquired Oylo, a privately-held industrial cybersecurity services provider based in Barcelona, Spain. Oylo is dedicated to providing a broad range of industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity services and solutions including assessments, turnkey implementations, managed services and incident response.
By Davide Perina, Product Manager at Cosmotec How to cool an electrical panel The electrical components within an automation panel have undergone a progressive process of miniaturization and an increasing degree of complexity, increasing their presence and performance. These components must be protected from high temperatures and external agents, which increase their wear and tear and…
What is the future of data centers? It’s an interesting question in large part because, on the surface, it doesn’t seem like there’s much room for change with how data centers are built. At the end of the day, data centers house IT racks that generate heat which must be dissipated in order to create efficient computing. The future of data centers is not necessarily about changing the core components of IT infrastructure — it’s more about thinking of these components in a more flexible way that allows for greater adaptability and scalability, especially given the rapid increase in AI data centers.
