The lectures in detail:

Industrial Control Panels acc. IEC standards and European Directives (CE Mark)

Most of the global markets require and apply international IEC standards. In Europe, in addition the relevant European Directives need to be fulfilled for market access. In this workshop, you will get an overview about the most relevant European Directives for electrical equipment of machines as well as for industrial control panels. Get the key details about the latest requirements and basics concerning IEC standards including an update on the safety standard for electrical machinery equipment addressed by the EN 60204-1.

Communication in the Control Cabinet

Adding communication to the control panel has many added benefits for both panel builders and end-users. For the end user, communication allows for system level diagnostics that can help avoid costly downtimes. For panel builders, adding communication in the control panel can mean a significant reduction in wiring and assembly time. In this seminar, you will explore technologies such as IO-Link and Industrial Ethernet (PROFINET) enabled pilot devices that add communication in the control panel while reducing overall wiring and assembly time.

Load Feeder Configurator+ (IEC) – electrical engineering starts with intelligent

Switching and protecting motors is not only selecting control products. It’s designing a union of components, cables and calculations and on top of that – conform standards and regulations. What if you can design your load feeders for direct online motors within a few clicks and additionally get all the important information like cable cross sections and short circuit calculations? Siemens’ new Load Feeder Configurator+ (IEC) can all do this for you. Let them show you how easy and fast it is.

EMC in the area of machine control cabinets – guideline, standards and practical tips

What effect does the current EMC Directive 2014/30 / EU have on the control cabinet? Which standards are relevant and must be considered? And how can electromagnetic phenomena be considered during the engineering phase? In this lecture we would like to explain practical tips as well as the current guideline and the relevant standards and their application.

Electrical and Automation Design – better together

The classic design process of production systems is characterized by sequential steps, that are often duplicated and that require a large amount of collaboration between disciplines. This way of working is reaching its limits in a market where the automation of systems is ever increasing, while time-to-market is ever decreasing. SIEMENS proposes a new way of working that combines the tasks of electrical and automation design in a single tool, allowing controls engineers to design production systems faster, while also increasing quality. Combining this with mechanical design integration, you can create a design environment that spans the entire design process from start to finish, enabling collaboration across your entire organization. Join in to see how you can increase engineering efficiency and be more competitive in your business.

Efficient control panel design – Save time and space

The challenges regarding time and cost pressure in electrical engineering and switch cabinet construction are enormously high. Siemens will give you tips and tricks for efficient control cabinet construction and show you a selection of selected examples of space and time-saving solutions for the electrical equipment of machines.

News in control circuits – set up control circuits in accordance with standards

In this lecture you will learn more about the latest changes in IEC 60204-1 Ed. 2016 about control circuits and the reliable construction and protection of the 24 V DC control circuit. Here in particular how overload and short-circuit in one or more branches can be reliably detected and faulty consumer branches can be switched off, while the other consumers continue to be supplied.

Control cabinets for the global market – standardization of electrical equipment for multinational markets

Machines and systems are often exported worldwide and placed on the most diverse markets. In many cases, due to national standards, an adjustment in electrical engineering is necessary, which often also requires the exchange of products. In this lecture you will learn how parts of the electrical equipment can be standardized so that they are in line with multinational regulations and standards and minimize the effort for adapting the electrical equipment.

What’s new in standards for the North American market – Control panels and electrical equipment

This presentation will be an overview of changes to U.S. standards for electrical equipment of machines and control panels. The focus of this presentation will be the challenge of “New standards and codes” for product certification. A summary of the changes to the Third Edition of the UL 508A Standard for Industrial Control Panels and the 2020 National Electrical Code will be provided. The effect of these changes on product design and certification will be covered. The presentation will also include an explanation of significant differences between U.S. and Canadian standards.

Digitalize your control system to maximize engineering & production efficiency

Leverage the digital twin to optimize your engineering design and panel building process with EPLAN Software and Siemens data. In this webinar we will show you how digitalizing the controls design and panel building process will result in a higher quality output, as well as a reduction of lead-time and costs.

How to achieve flexibility when designing and manufacturing control panels for hazardous locations

Special considerations are necessary when designing and manufacturing equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. These locations are found in a wide range of industries, including Oil & Gas, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and power generation. Traditional certification models add significant cost to control panels, which are often custom-made for each application on an individual basis. UL solves this problem through its Custom Control Panel Program, which allows manufacturers flexibility (within specific guidelines) to build custom panels, even when they are for use in explosive atmospheres. Learn about the types of panel constructions permitted by UL’s Hazardous Locations panel program and overviews of UL 698A, panels installed in Division 1 or Division 2 locations and ATEX/IECEx.

Manufacturing data for control cabinet construction at the push of a button – automated electrical planning in plant engineering

Automated electrical plan generation can save a lot of time in electrical planning and work preparation. Optimized data storage and process organization enable customer projects to be processed faster and more precisely. Using the example of the WSCAD SUITE X, you will be shown how the production data for control cabinet construction is created by using complete product data in the background. This data is then available at the push of a button.
