The effect of the efficiency of a power supply on the application is often underestimated. In a short technical tutorial, you will learn why apparently small improvements in efficiency can have an enormous effect on the availability of a system or machine.

Peter Huber, Application Engineer at PULS, guides you through an experimental test set-up of three different DIN rail power supplies inside identical cabinets. All 3 units provide a DC output of 24V, 10A with a power of 240W, but differ in terms of efficiency.

During two test runs Peter analyzes the different behavior of the power supplies and their effect on the ambient temperature. This is the first part of a new tutorial series on technical considerations you should take into account, when choosing the right power supply for your application.
