Leviton recently announced the launch of its new Powerswitch Safety Disconnect Switch with Inform Technology. The launch includes 30/32 Amp non-metallic safety disconnect switches with industry-exclusive remote monitoring capabilities.

Leveraging its award-winning Inform technology, Leviton has developed a version of its Powerswitch Safety Disconnect Switches that includes condition monitoring sensors and communications, providing real-time data to the end-user. The data from the sensors can be viewed locally on the device via line-of-sight LED indication or remotely via Wi-Fi or Modbus RTU. The data provided through the technology is ultimately used to improve safety, efficiency and productivity.

“We are excited about this launch because it expands not only our Inform device portfolio but also our offering of communication protocols,” said Michael Mattei, vice president & general manager, Leviton Commercial & Industrial. “By adding a Modbus RTU communication interface, we are increasing flexibility for the end-user as they now can integrate these switches into virtually any automation system.”

The Inform technology provides end-users with 24/7 access to device health and operating status, whether viewed on the device itself, the Inform mobile and desktop app or through an automation system. Data includes individual line- and load-side voltage values, ground continuity, liquid accumulation, enclosure temperature, enclosure humidity and more. By accessing real-time information about machine health and power quality without opening the switch, facility managers and electricians can more quickly address potential hazards to ensure their people and systems are operating safely and efficiently.

For use in any environment, the disconnect switches are designed to be watertight, dust-tight, submersible and suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns. An over molded, longer-length handle provides improved grip for durability and accommodates three padlocks for OSHA-compliant lockout/tagout.

While these devices are NSF certified for food & beverage processing environments, the disconnect switches are ideal for a variety of applications, including manufacturing, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), commercial refrigeration and more.

This exciting new launch also includes replacement covers with Inform capabilities, allowing a facility already outfitted with standard Leviton safety disconnect switches to easily upgrade to Inform units to improve safety, without having to take devices off the wall.

These switches are backed by an industry-leading three-year limited warranty, ensuring quality and reliability.

This launch is just the latest line addition to Leviton devices embedded with Inform, following the launch of the award-winning LEV Series Mechanical Interlocks with Inform, which also feature the same remote monitoring capabilities.
