Pepperl+Fuchs: Industrial Box Thin Clients Designed for Reliable 24/7 Operation

The new BTC22 and BTC24 box thin clients from Pepperl+Fuchs are specially developed for a continuous 24/7 operation in control rooms and laboratories. These rugged and compact devices provide the high reliability and long-term availability that is essential for demanding industrial environments.
With its powerful hardware, the BTC24 supports up to four 4K displays, while the BTC22 can be connected to either two 4K or three full HD displays via USB-C ALT mode. Both models are equipped with 8 GB DDR4 RAM (BTC24 even with two 4 GB dual-channel RAM) and have a third LAN port. This enables extra network connections, for example for connecting to another network in addition to the already redundantly connected DCS or MES system. This makes the devices ideal for demanding control room environments.
The long-term availability of the devices (at least five years) ensures sustainable investment security. The pre-installed thin client management software “VisuNet RM Shell 6” (based on Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021) simplifies setup and enables the quick establishment of remote connections such as RDP and VNC. Alternatively, software options such as IGEL OS 12 and ThinManager are also available.
The rugged devices have no moving parts, making them resistant to temperature fluctuations and vibrations – a key advantage in harsh industrial environments. Special cable locks prevent connections from becoming loose during operation, therefore helping to prevent failures.
The BTC22 and BTC24 score points with their compact design and flexible mounting options, including table, wall, VESA, or DIN rail mounting. These space-saving options make them ideal for laboratories and control rooms with limited space. With the BTCs, plant operators benefit from future-proof, reliable hardware and maximum efficiency through centralized management via the VisuNet Control Center.
