Banner Engineering: Flush-Mount S22 Programmable Indicators and Touch Buttons Now Offer IO-Link and Modbus Communication

March 2, 2026
The complete control, configuration, and data access IO-Link and Modbus provide is now available in the flush-mount S22 Programmable Indicator and Programmable Touch Button.
Operators can use IO-Link or Modbus to configure intuitive feedback via five animations and a full spectrum of custom colors, speeds, and intensities. Using IO-Link or Modbus simplifies device replacement, reduces wiring, and gives users access to dynamic data that improves operational efficiency. The S22’s flush-mount design sits tightly against panel, machine, and bracket surfaces for a more ergonomic, cleaner design.
Two different types of S22 models are available, each with a bright, colorful, illuminated area that guides operators through machine and production processes. Indicators use this area to quickly and clearly communicate status information. Touch button models use capacitive touch technology that allows operator action without requiring physical force to operate. This allows touch buttons to be actuated by both bare and gloved hands, and provides reliable, accurate touch response in many different applications, without hand, wrist, and arm stresses caused by repeated motion. Touch buttons also reduce scrap by enabling two-way communication between operator and equipment, clarifying processes while improving operator accuracy and speed.
Both indicators and touch buttons have a rugged, reliable, IP67/IP69K-rated polycarbonate housing that protects against impacts and withstands high-pressure, high-temperature washdown environments. The solid-state design has no mechanical parts to wear out, minimizing maintenance time over the S22’s long, reliable operational lifespan. And with an M12 integral quick disconnect, the S22 installs quickly and easily.
