Pfannenberg, Inc. is proud to announce the launch of its latest innovation in battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions: the award-winning VLV 4-12 and DMC 8.0 Chillers, engineered specifically for the demanding needs of today’s BESS market.

These new products set a new standard for energy efficiency, reliability, and adaptability, offering advanced thermal management solutions that protect battery investments and maximize performance across a wide range of environmental conditions.

The VLV 4-12 Chiller stands out as a compact, off-grid unit designed for seamless integration inside BESS containers or cabinets. Its unique direct DC power supply, ranging from 570 to 800 volts, allows for direct connection to the battery system, eliminating the need for power conversion and simplifying system design while boosting efficiency. The VLV 4-12 is engineered for all climates, operating reliably in ambient temperatures from -25°C to +45°C, making it ideal for BESS installations in both extreme cold and hot environments.

An integrated internal heater ensures battery longevity by maintaining a stable minimum liquid temperature during winter, while variable frequency drive (VFD) technology, micro-channel condenser, and energy-efficient EC fans deliver exceptional energy savings and reliability. The unit’s slim profile and intentional structural notch allow for easy mounting inside tight spaces, and error/warning communication via Modbus TCP enables seamless integration with Battery Management Systems. Notably, the VLV 4-12 is backed by two patents: one for its distinctive shape and another for its innovative DC power source.

Complementing the VLV 4-12, the DMC 8.0 Chiller is a compact, door-mounted solution that maximizes space efficiency and installation flexibility. Designed for semi-recessed or wall-mounted installation, the DMC 8.0 excels in harsh and extreme environments, operating reliably from -20°C to +50°C. Its inverter-driven compressor and high efficiency EC fans provide precise temperature control and low noise emission, making it suitable for noise-sensitive or urban applications.

The DMC 8.0’s integrated heater ensures optimal battery operation during cold weather, maintaining required temperatures in stand-by mode and extending battery life. With a higher capacity and smaller footprint than many competitor units, the DMC 8.0 supports comprehensive battery management and easy access for maintenance. Communication is enabled through Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP, allowing for remote monitoring and seamless integration with existing Battery Management Systems.
