Pfannenberg, Inc. offers its PROTECT Series of SIL-certified and C1D2-capable signaling devices.
With virtually unbreakable die-cast aluminum housings, PROTECT devices are suited for applications in fire alarm, marine, machine safety, functional safety, and hazardous areas where reliability and durability are critical.
The PROTECT Series includes high-performance sounders and combined sounder-light devices with six lens color options and Xenon or LED visual signaling to meet a wide range of application requirements. Certified to stringent industrial standards, the devices provide 80 selectable tones, four externally selectable additional tones, and a pre- and main alarm function that helps prevent shock reactions by starting at a reduced sound pressure before escalating to the main alarm. Dip switch settings allow precise control of sound output from 86–116 dB, enabling engineers to tailor signaling to specific environments while maintaining outstanding perceptibility and high sound penetration.
A key advantage of the PROTECT Series is its combination of advanced safety certifications and robust construction. Select models are certified for explosion-proof requirements including Class 1 Division 2 (C1D2) hazardous locations, making them suitable for environments where flammable gases or vapors may be present. Devices with Safety Integrity Level SIL 2 certification help ensure that machines operate properly and that personnel clearly know when equipment is turning on or off, which is especially valuable in facilities such as semiconductor fabrication plants or nuclear enrichment sites where employee notification alarms are mandatory, or on a machine that has a functional safety loop to keep people safe.
Among the offerings, the PRO 10 stands out as a versatile, high-performance sounder with a maximum sound pressure level of up to 116 dB(A) and an IK09 impact-proof rating. Its pre- and main alarm function enhances safety by reducing the risk of startle or shock reactions. The PRO 10 is certified for MED/MER marine use, SIL 2/PL d functional safety, and explosion-proof requirements for hazardous zones (ATEX Zone 2/22 and UL Class 1 Division 2 Class I, Groups A, B, C and D, Div. 2; Class II, Groups F and G, Div. 2; Class III), ensuring clear, reliable signaling in noisy or hazardous environments.
The PRO X 10-05, a combined audible and visual signaling device, adds further safety and performance benefits to the PROTECT portfolio. Featuring a high-performance Xenon flash light (5 Joules, 56 cd) and a maximum sound pressure level of 116 dB(A), the PRO X 10-05 ensures alarms are both seen and heard over large areas and through obstacles. Its die-cast aluminum housing, IP66/IP67 and NEMA 4/4X protection ratings provide resistance to dust, water, and mechanical impacts. With visual signaling up to 568 feet and acoustical coverage up to 116 dB(A), the PRO X 10-05 can reduce the total number of devices required for comprehensive protection, helping save installation time and costs.
