Pepperl+Fuchs: 6000 Series Purge and Pressurization System – High-Current Outputs Expand Application Possibilities

April 21, 2026
In hazardous-area applications, switching enclosure power is a critical function—particularly when higher electrical loads are involved. In many cases, this has traditionally required additional costly switching hardware, increasing system complexity and installation effort.
Pepperl+Fuchs now expands the capabilities of its 6000 Series purge and pressurization system with a high-current output option designed to address these requirements more efficiently.
Higher Current Capability for Direct Power Switching in Hazardous Areas
The enhanced 6000 Series electronic processing control unit (EPCU) features two enclosure contacts rated up to 12 A per contact. This increased capacity allows the control unit to switch enclosure power directly within the system for a broader range of applications. As a result, higher-load applications, such as gas analyzer systems or enclosures with integrated heating, can often be implemented without the need for additional Ex-rated contactors or breakers, resulting in cost savings.
Additionally, by integrating the switching function directly into the control unit, the system architecture is simplified which reduces installation effort and supports more compact enclosure designs.
Part of the Proven 6000 Series Platform
The high-current option is fully integrated into the proven 6000 Series, a fully automatic Type X / Ex pxb purge and pressurization system for Class I, Class II, Division 1; Zone 1 / Zone 21 to non-hazardous areas. This system combines controller, pneumatics, electrical I/O, and user interface in a single enclosure and automatically energizes enclosure power once the enclosure is safe and maintaining pressure.
With its flexible configuration and global certifications, it supports a wide range of industrial applications. The high-current variants retain the established functionality and certifications of the standard system, ensuring consistent performance and seamless integration.
