As the company continues to align itself to best serve its markets and customers, Southwire has announced that it will close its facility located in York, Pa. Operations will cease at the York facility on February 19, 2027.

The York location is a Distribution Center (DC) facility. Southwire has operated in York since 1977, with the current facility contributing to the company’s vast distribution network since 2013. Shipping activities from York will be relocated to other Southwire distribution facilities.

“Our focus continues to be meeting our customers’ needs in the most effective and efficient way possible,” stated Aaron Asher, Southwire’s senior vice president of Customer Experience. “By making this change, we’re able to better utilize our current facilities and adopt a more streamlined strategy for improving the customer experience.”

Impacted team members will have the opportunity to apply for open positions within the business, and those individuals who do not transfer to another Southwire position and who remain satisfactorily employed through their termination date will be offered separation pay.

“Reaching a decision like this is difficult,” said Winn Wise, Southwire’s chief commercial officer. “The choice to close the York facility was not made lightly. This move does not reflect the dedication or performance of our team members, whose efforts have greatly contributed to the York site’s achievements and Southwire’s overall success. We are committed to treating everyone impacted by this transition with dignity and respect.”
