Introducing the iRis HMI Range
As industrial automation evolves toward Industry 4.0, manufacturers require more than a simple operator interface. They need intelligent, connected systems that provide real-time visibility, secure data exchange, seamless integration and long-term reliability.
The iRis Human Machine Interface range from IMO has been engineered specifically to meet these demands. Combining powerful hardware, advanced software tools and cloud-enabled connectivity, the all new iRis series delivers a complete HMI solution for modern manufacturing, process control, utilities, semiconductor production, pharmaceuticals, automotive assembly and smart factory environments.
Whether deployed on a standalone machine, integrated into a production line, connected to enterprise systems or used in hazardous environments, iRis provides the performance, flexibility and scalability required for today’s industrial operations.
What is a Human Machine Interface?
A Human Machine Interface (HMI) provides the connection between operators and machinery, allowing users to monitor equipment, visualise process data, manage alarms and interact with automation systems in real time. Today’s HMIs have evolved into intelligent information hubs that connect people, machines and enterprise systems to improve productivity and operational visibility.
Designed for Industrial Performance
At the heart of every iRis HMI is a high-performance Quad-Core processor that delivers rapid data processing, responsive screen updates and smooth operation even in complex automation environments. Combined with a vivid 16-million-colour display and vector graphics support, operators benefit from exceptional visual clarity and fast access to critical machine information. Available in multiple screen sizes ranging from compact 4.3-inch models through to large-format 15-inch displays, the iRis series allows OEMs and system integrators to standardise on a single platform across multiple machine types and production environments.
With IP65-rated front protection, industrial-grade construction and a backlight life exceeding 50,000 hours, iRis HMIs are built to provide dependable operation in demanding industrial environments.
Advanced Connectivity Without Compromise
Modern factories demand seamless communication between machines, control systems and business applications. The iRis platform has been developed to simplify integration through extensive communication options, including:
- Dual Ethernet architecture with independent IP addressing
- RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 serial communications/li>
- USB Host and USB OTG connectivity
- SD card support
- MQTT cloud communications
- OPC UA connectivity
- VNC remote access
- FTP file transfer
- Email notification services
These capabilities allow iRis HMIs to communicate effectively with PLCs, servo systems, remote I/O devices, SCADA systems, MES platforms and enterprise applications. The Plus Series extends connectivity further with up to three serial communication ports and with OPC UA support and ethernet port, enabling secure interoperability between operational technology and higher-level business systems.
Cloud Connectivity for Industry 4.0
Industrial data is becoming one of the most valuable assets within manufacturing operations. The iRis Cloud platform enables organisations to securely collect, visualise and analyse machine data from anywhere using lightweight MQTT communication technology. Operators and managers gain access to real-time dashboards, historical trends, alarms and machine performance metrics through an intuitive web-based interface.
Using drag-and-drop dashboard creation tools, organisations can quickly build customised visualisations without complex software development. Interactive widgets, real-time maps, user management tools and automated notification systems provide complete operational visibility across multiple facilities and machine installations.
The result is faster decision-making, improved asset utilisation and enhanced responsiveness to production issues.
Powerful Engineering Tools That Reduce Development Time
A modern HMI platform must be as efficient for engineers as it is for operators. The iRis Developer software suite provides a comprehensive engineering environment that simplifies project creation, testing and deployment. Features include:
- Automatic screen resizing across display formats
- Offline and online simulation/li>
- SVG vector image libraries
- User-defined templates and object libraries
- Alarm management tools
- Data logging and recipe management
- Scheduling and time-based control
- JavaScript integration
- Secure user authentication
- PDF viewing capability
- Real-time data monitoring
Engineers can develop once and deploy across multiple HMI screen sizes, dramatically reducing project engineering time while maintaining design consistency. Offline and online simulation capabilities further accelerate commissioning by allowing applications to be tested before installation, reducing project risk and shortening deployment schedules.
