Southwire Welcomes U.S. Representative Michael Guest to Starkville

Southwire recently welcomed U.S. Representative Michael Guest (R-MS-03) to tour its manufacturing and distribution operations in Starkville, Miss.
In early August, Southwire announced a $256M expansion of its Starkville operations. The 380,000 sq. ft. project is expected to create 128 new jobs and reinforces the company’s commitment to its team members, customers and communities. The expansion is part of Southwire’s companywide commitment of more than two billion dollars in modernization efforts across its footprint.

It is about creating opportunities for our team members, supporting the local community and continuing to invest in the people and operations that help us serve our customers every day.”

During his visit, Congressman Guest connected with Southwire leadership and team members to celebrate the Starkville expansion and the company’s ongoing commitment to growth.
“I was honored to visit Southwire in Starkville, one of the leading manufacturers of wire and cable for electricity in the United States,” said Congressman Guest. “To meet the growing national demand, Southwire is expanding their facility. I am thankful for the work Ganesh Ramaswamy and his team are doing.”
Southwire’s Starkville Plant was originally opened by Phelps-Dodge in 1979 and acquired by Southwire in 1989. This project marks the second expansion on the campus, following the initial 2010 expansion, which underscored Southwire’s commitment to customer service through the addition of an onsite distribution center.
The expansion and upgrades at the Starkville Plant will enhance the experience for Southwire’s team members by supporting a safer, more efficient work environment, strengthening its focus on quality and better positioning the company to serve its customers, communities and stakeholders for years to come.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2026 with full capacity anticipated to come online in 2028.
