Schneider Electric: ASCO’s PowerLogic Source Next-Generation Controller for Critical Power Transfer Switching

October 6, 2026
Schneider Electric has recently announced the launch of the PowerLogic Source Controller, the next-generation automatic transfer switch controller from ASCO Power Technologies.
This new controller is built for hospitals, data centers, water treatment plants, and other mission-critical facilities. It succeeds ASCO’s Group 5 platform and consolidates metering, source status, and controls into a single interface.
Facility teams must manage increasingly complex power systems with fewer qualified technicians. In the 2025 Hospital Construction Survey from ASHE’s Health Facilities Management magazine, 35% of hospitals named a shortage of staff to manage new building equipment and systems as a barrier to opening-day readiness, and 33% pointed to a lack of in-house expertise. At the same time, mission-critical facilities have little tolerance for the outages that conventional transfer switches may require, whether planned for equipment service and updates or unplanned for component replacements.
The PowerLogic Source Controller replaces the configuration hardware of legacy controllers with drop-down menus on a 4.3-inch color touchscreen, integrating metering directly into the interface and easing training demands for existing staff. A modular, field-replaceable HMI and closed-door USB firmware updates are designed to minimize system downtime during service, so teams can replace components and update firmware without taking loads offline. The controller logs up to 1,000 events with voltage and frequency snapshots for proactive maintenance and supports remote monitoring via Modbus. Multi-level credentialed access enhances security and supports audit trails.
For ASCO’s Group 5 installed base of more than 150,000 units, the controller uses the same enclosure cutout to simplify retrofits and gives facilities a unified user experience across all ASCO 7000 SERIES transfer switches. ASCO Power Technologies has deployed more than 2 million transfer switches worldwide across more than a century of power source switching and control. The PowerLogic Source Controller carries that line forward. It won a category award in EC&M’s 2026 Product of the Year program, a Bronze Award in Consulting-Specifying Engineer’s 2026 Product of the Year program, and the Power & Renewable Energy category of the 2026 FacilitiesNet Vision Awards .
